Two Nigerian Air Force Pilots Survive FT-7NI Trainer Aircraft Crash in Makurdi Training Exercise
In a recent announcement, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed that two military pilots have survived a crash involving the FT-7NI trainer aircraft. The incident occurred during a routine training exercise in Makurdi, the capital city of Benue state. Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations and Information for NAF, issued a statement on Friday (July 14) evening providing details of the incident.
Fortunately, both pilots managed to eject from the aircraft and survived the crash. No loss of life or damage to property in the vicinity of the impact area was reported. The pilots are currently receiving medical attention and are being observed at the NAF Base Hospital in Makurdi. Air Vice Marshal Hasan Abubakar, the Chief of Air Staff, has formed a Board of Inquiry to investigate and determine the immediate and underlying causes of the accident.
